Purpose of the consultation

School Street Experimental Traffic Regulation Order 2023

 

Notice is hereby given that City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council has made the following Orders on the 15th June 2023 under its powers contained in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to prohibit the driving of vehicles other than as set out in each order within the stated time periods on the following lengths of road:

 

  1. City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council Newby Primary School (Ryan Street, Bradford) School Street Experimental Traffic Regulation Order 2023 in the length of:

                 i.        Ryan Street between its junction with St Stephens Road and its junction with Cotewall Road from Monday to Friday during the hours 8:30 am – 9:00 am and 3:00 pm – 3:30 pm, from 1st September to 31st July

 

  1. City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council St Philips Primary School (Whitby Terrace, Bradford) School Street Experimental Traffic Regulation Order 2023 in the length of:

                              i.        Whitby Terrace, Bradford from its junction with Fairbank Road to its eastern termination point from Monday to Friday during the hours 8:25 am – 8:45 am and 3:05 pm – 3:20 pm, from 1st September to 31st July .

 

  1. City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council All Saints Primary School (Kennion Street, Bradford) School Street Experimental Traffic Regulation Order 2023 in the length of:

                              i.        Kennion Street for its full length from Monday to Thursday during the hours 8:15 am – 8:40 am and 3:10 pm – 3:40 pm and Friday 8.15am – 8.40 am and 1:00pm – 1:30 pm, from 1st September  to 31st July . 

 

  1. City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council Farfield Primary School (Reevy Crescent, Bradford) School Street Experimental Traffic Regulation Order 2023 in the length of:

                             i.                Reevy Crescent from its junction with Reevy Avenue to its junction with Bilsdale Grange (Western extent)

                            ii.                Bilsdale Grange from its junction with Reevy Crescent North West to its junction with Bilsdale Grange (section that runs South West to North East)

                          iii.                Braine Croft for its full length

 

from Monday to Friday during the hours 8:30 am – 9:00 am and 3:00 pm – 3:30 pm,  from 1st September  to 31st July

 

The impact of the Experimental Orders will be monitored and assessed whilst the Orders are in operation allowing measures to be modified or removed. The Experimental Orders are not absolute and are subject to exemptions including residents permit holders, emergency, service vehicles and Blue Badge Holders.  

 

The Orders come into force on the 22nd June 2023 and a copy of the Orders together with maps showing the affected roads may be examined below  or obtained from Shahid Aziz - Traffic & Road Safety South

Within 6 months of coming into force of the Experimental Orders, or within 6 months of any future modification, any person may object. The Council will consider whether or not the provisions of the Experimental Orders should continue in force indefinitely. Any such representation should be sent in writing to the Planning, Transportation & Highway Services, Assistant Director, 4th Floor, Britannia House, Hall Ings, Bradford, BD1 1HX or emailed to shahid.aziz@bradford.gov.uk no later than 12 noon on the 21st December 2023 stating the grounds on which it is made.

 

If you wish to question the validity of the Orders, or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirements of that Act or of any Instrument made under it, have not been complied with in relation to the Orders, you may, within six weeks from the date upon which the Orders were made apply to the High Court for this purpose.
