0-19 Prevention and Early Help

It is a requirement of the Council and its partners to ensure effective Prevention and Early Help arrangements for babies, children, young people and families.

Our Prevention and Early Help arrangements have to tackle inequality in order to improve the long term prospects of families most in need.  The way key services are proposed to be delivered is being transformed, this is due to the need to:

  • Meet the LA’s and key partners’ statutory requirements;
  • Ensure better outcomes and reduce inequalities for babies, children young people and families;
  • Make the financial savings required by 2020/21

The investment in Prevention and Early Help, together with an integrated workforce, will facilitate the targeting of greater resources to the most vulnerable and prevent the escalation of need to a specialist level. A collective approach is required across families, communities, wider partners across all sectors and the Council as a whole.

This report follows a 3 month public consultation which took place between November 2017 – February 2018.
