1/ Answer your telephones- Some customers have simple reasons to contact the service which can be resolved in minutes by answering telephones. Emails take up to 10 days to reply. We need better methods for contacting the department in urgent cases.

2/ Stop your unfair vehicle testing methods- Adopt an efficient effective policy which will ease resources of the department- Similar to the way in which Leeds Council effectively manage their licensed vehicles (by producing a valid MOT certificate for renewals only)- Resources can then be used to carry out more random checks and enforcement operations.

3/ Act on behalf of private hire vehicles and arrange for the Highways department to consider allowing the use of Bus Lanes/ Bus Gates after 7pm/ Off Peak Use (similar to Leeds).

4/ We want enforcement officers to adopt a role similar to Street Angels- The police are too busy to assist us on weekends so we need Council Empowered Civil Enfocement officers to help the trade on Friday & Saturday nights- For example- Drunks not getting out of a car, Kids throwing bricks- We need a point of contact for assistance.

5/ Stop forcing the fleet of Hackney Carriage Taxis to all be disabled access- It is better to have a smaller fleet of specialist drivers who are familiar on how to fasten wheelchairs in vehicles safely than have them all accessible and hardly ever used- Only 2% of Taxis ever get used to carry Wheelchairs passengers so why force the whole fleet to be 100% accessible- Other major cities require a certain percentage of vehicles to be accessible- Bradford is 100%.

6/ Bring back the same day test- same day plate issue policy- Currently we have to visit/contact you around 4 times before a vehicle is actually on the road

7/ Arrange better parking at your depot. You have 4000 licensed vehicles and only 7 parking spaces for Taxis.

8/ Open your offices until 5pm like all other council services
