Experimental Traffic Regulation Order 2022

Notice is hereby given that City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council made the following Order on 12 July 2022 under its powers contained in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to introduce prohibition of driving; access only and waiting restrictions in various locations in Saltaire Village.

i.              ‘NO WAITING AT ANY TIME’ on a length of Albert Road, Carlton Avenue, Carlton Road, Dallam Road, Sleningford Road, Titus Street and Tower Road.

ii.             ‘PROHIBITION OF DRIVING – ROAD CLOSURE’ prohibit driving of motor vehicles on a length of Albert Road, Albert Terrace, Carlton Avenue, Carlton Road, Clarence Road, Dallam Road, Park Street, Sleningford Road, Titus Street and Tower Road.

iii.            ‘PROHIBITON OF DRIVING – EXCEPT FOR ACCESS’ on the whole lengths of Dallam Walk and Carlton Walk.  

The impact of the Experimental Order will be monitored and assessed whilst the Order is in operation allowing measures to be modified or removed. The Experimental Order is not absolute and is subject to exemptions including resident permit holders, emergency and service vehicles and Blue Badge Holders.

The Order comes into operation on 21 July 2022 and a copy of the Order together with maps showing the affected roads may be examined at Customer Services, City Hall, Bradford or Shipley Town Hall between normal business hours or below or obtained from Craig Williams, Senior Engineer, Planning, Transportation & Highways by telephone on 01535 618294 or by email craig.williams@bradford.gov.uk quoting reference numbers P/HS/THN/104981/117 P/HS/THN/104981/500-506 and  P/HS/THN/104981/508.

Within 6 months of coming into force of the Experimental Order, or within 6 months of any future modification, any person may object. The Council will consider whether or not the provisions of the Experimental Order should continue in force indefinitely. Any such representation should be sent in writing to the Planning, Transportation & Highway Services, Assistant Director, 4th Floor, Britannia House, Hall Ings, Bradford, BD1 1HX or emailed to craig.williams@bradford.gov.uk no later than 12 December 2022 stating the grounds on which it is made.

If you wish to question the validity of the Order, or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirements of that Act or of any Instrument made under it, have not been complied with in relation to the Orders, you may, within six weeks from the date upon which the Orders were made on 12 July 2022 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
