Shay Lane, Bradford Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (Prohibition of Driving) 2020

Purpose of the consultation

Notice is hereby given that City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council made the above Experimental Traffic Regulation Order on 10th September 2020 under its powers contained in section 9, of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the general effect of which will be to:

 

1.            Prohibit the driving of vehicles on the following length of road on Shay Lane, Heaton, Bradford from a point 80 metres south-east to its junction with Heaton Royd Lane to a point 60 metres north-west of its junction with Shay Close, Bradford.

2.            Physical barriers and signage to give effect to the Experimental Order will be installed from and including 18th September 2020.

3.            Pedestrians, cyclists and persons on horseback will be able to pass through the barriers.

 

The Experimental Order has been made as part of the Council’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic to support social distancing and to create lower trafficked routes to encourage walking and cycling. The Experimental Order will be implemented for a maximum of eighteen (18) months during which time its effects will be monitored by the Council before a decision is taken to give the order permanent effect, be varied or modified in some way (if not already varied, modified or cancelled) or allowed to lapse.

If you wish to object to the proposed Order you should send the grounds for your objection in writing either by post to the address below or by email to legalobjections@bradford.gov.uk to be received no later than 12 noon on Friday, 26 March 2021 quoting reference: CORP/PCD/AK/407511.
