ELECTION OF LORD MAYOR

To elect a Lord Mayor for the 2023/24 municipal year.

Minutes:

Resolved – That Councillor Gerry Barker be appointed as Lord Mayor for the 2023/24 municipal year.

 

(The newly elected Lord Mayor then made a declaration of acceptance of office in the prescribed form and assumed the Chair.)

2.

APPOINTMENT OF DEPUTY LORD MAYOR

To appoint a Deputy Lord Mayor for the 2023/24 municipal year.

Minutes:

Resolved – That Councillor Falak Ahmed be appointed Deputy Lord Mayor for the 2023/24 municipal year.

 

(The newly appointed Deputy Lord Mayor then made a declaration of acceptance of office in the prescribed form.)

3.

EXPRESSION OF APPRECIATION

Minutes:

The Lord Mayor together with Councillors Hinchcliffe, Poulson, Hickson and Stubbs placed on record their appreciation to the retiring Civic Team on behalf of their respective Political Groups.  The Lord Mayor presented badges to Councillor Love and his consort to commemorate his term of office as Lord Mayor.  In response the former Lord Mayor thanked all those who had assisted him during his term of office, expressed his pride in the district and all of its people and thanked them for the honour which had been bestowed upon him.

4.

(2)          Disclosable pecuniary interests relate to the Member concerned or their spouse/partner.

 

(3)          Members in arrears of Council Tax by more than two months must not vote in decisions on, or which might affect, budget calculations, and must disclose at the meeting that this restriction applies to them.  A failure to comply with these requirements is a criminal offence under section 106 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992.

 

(4)          Officers must disclose interests in accordance with Council Standing Order 44.

A copy of the Lord Mayor’s announcements had been circulated and published on the Council’s website.

 

Death of former Councillor James (Jim Flood)

 

Members paid tribute to former Councillor Jim Flood who sadly passed away on 8 May 2023. 

 

Former Councillor Flood represented the Bingley Ward from 1995 until 1999.

 

Death of former Councillor David Harrison

 

Members paid tribute to former Councillor David Harrison who sadly passed away on 4 May 2023. 

 

Former Councillor Harrison represented the Craven Ward from 1991 until 1995 and from 1996 until 2004.

 

Both former Councillors Flood and Harrison served their constituents with great energy and commitment. 

 

A minute’s silence was observed in their memory.

8.
